How much does a website cost in Udupi & Mangalore? (2026)

What a small-business website really costs in Udupi and Mangaluru in 2026: the one-time build, the yearly domain and hosting charges people forget, and what to ask before you pay.

How much does a website cost in Udupi & Mangalore? (2026)

At our studio in Udupi, a business website starts from ₹12,000, paid once. It is not a yearly fee. There is no limit on pages. The final price depends on the features you need.

Every website also has two costs that come back each year: the domain name (yourshop.in) and the hosting (the server that keeps your site online). Both should be in your own name. As a guide, Hostinger's India site lists a .in domain at ₹899 a year after the first year. Its two cheapest hosting plans renew at ₹289 and ₹449 a month. All of these prices are before GST.

An online store, bookings or online payments cost extra. Before any work starts, you should get a fixed written quote for that part. Below: what drives the price, what you pay every year, the do-it-yourself options, and what to ask before you pay anyone.

What the ₹12,000 covers

This is the same package shown on our Udupi and Mangaluru pages:

  • Unlimited pages: Home, About, Services, Gallery, Contact and as many more as you need
  • Mobile-friendly design
  • SSL certificate, so the site opens on https with the padlock
  • SEO-ready structure and a basic SEO check
  • WhatsApp button and contact form
  • Your location on Google Maps
  • Photo gallery
  • Basic content writing
  • Live in about 7 days once you send your text and photos
  • 365 days of support after launch

Not included: the domain name and hosting. They are yearly costs, kept in your name, and we set them up for you. An online store, bookings, appointments, payments, apps and custom software are quoted separately, with a fixed written quote once the scope is agreed.

Chart with three columns. Paid once: the website, from 12,000 rupees, with unlimited pages, mobile-friendly design, SSL, SEO-ready structure, WhatsApp button, contact form, Google Maps location, photo gallery, basic content writing and 365 days of support. Paid every year: the domain name and hosting, kept in your own name, plus business email if you want it. Quoted separately: online store, bookings and appointments, online payments, apps and custom software.
Three kinds of cost: the build you pay once, the yearly renewals you pay to the provider, and the extra features that get their own written quote.

Pages are cheap. Features are not.

Many people expect the price to depend on the number of pages. It mostly does not. Once the design is ready, adding a page of text and photos is quick work. A hardware shop with 30 product pages can cost the same as a clinic with 6.

The time goes into anything that does something:

  • taking a payment and sending a receipt
  • showing which rooms or time slots are free
  • a cart, stock levels and delivery charges
  • customer logins
  • connecting to your billing software or another system
  • a full second language, where every page is written and checked twice

Each of these has to be built, tested with real cases and looked after. That is why they are quoted one by one.

One example from our own work: the site we built for Padmavathi Tours & Travels in Udupi has about 190 pages, one for each vehicle, route and town. Most of them come from a single data file. Adding a new route does not mean designing a new page.

Yearly website charges people forget

The build is paid once. The costs below come back every year. We took each price from the provider's own page on 8 October 2026. All are before GST, and they change often, so check again before you buy.

Domain name

For a .in name, the .IN Registry charges registrars ₹500 a year, and each registrar sets its own retail price. Hostinger, for example, sells a .in domain for ₹1 for the first year, then ₹899 a year. Look at the renewal price, not the first-year offer. That is what you pay every year after.

Hosting

Low hosting prices often mean paying for several years at once. Hostinger's cheapest plan shows ₹69 a month, but that is for a 48-month term paid up front (₹3,312), and the page says it renews at ₹289 a month. The next plan shows ₹149 a month and renews at ₹449 a month. At renewal rates, that is about ₹3,500 to ₹5,400 a year. Other hosts price differently. Compare the renewal price and the term, not the headline.

We use Hostinger ourselves: this website and the other sites we look after run on a Hostinger account. If you choose it too, you can sign up through our Hostinger referral link. It is a referral link, so we may earn a reward if you buy through it. Whichever host you pick, buy the plan in your own business's name.

Email at your own address

An address like info@yourclinic.in is optional. Free Gmail is fine for many small shops. If you want your own address, it is usually charged per person. Google Workspace lists its Business Base plan at ₹99 per user per month, before tax. Some hosting plans include mailboxes, but check for how long. Hostinger's Premium plan says "2 mailboxes per website - free for 1 year".

SSL certificate

The https padlock need not be a yearly cost. Hostinger, for one, includes a free SSL certificate on every hosting plan. If someone charges you yearly for SSL on a simple site, ask what that money buys.

Payment fees, if you take payments

If your site takes money online, the payment gateway keeps a small share of each payment. Razorpay's standard pricing is 2% per successful payment plus GST, with no setup fee. This is a running cost, not a build cost.

Doing it yourself: Wix or WordPress

You do not have to hire anyone. Two common routes, with their real costs:

A website builder such as Wix

Wix lets you build a site for free, on an address like username.wixsite.com and with Wix branding. To use your own domain and remove the branding, you need a paid plan. Wix's plans page, as shown in India, lists Light at ₹250 a month, Core at ₹500 a month and Business at ₹900 a month. These are billed yearly and are before tax, so ₹3,000 to ₹10,800 a year, every year. Online payments start from the Core plan. The free domain on paid plans is for the first year only. When we checked, Wix was also running a 50% offer on the first term of Core and above.

The trade-off: it is quick and needs no developer, but you do the building and you pay every year for as long as the site runs. Wix also says a Wix site must run on Wix's servers. If you leave, you rebuild.

WordPress with a theme

WordPress itself is free. You pay for the domain and hosting, as above. Many good themes are free too. GeneratePress, for example, is free on WordPress.org, and its premium version costs $59 a year. The real cost is time. You set it up, then keep WordPress, the theme and every plugin updated and backed up. Someone has to do that every month, or you pay someone to do it.

Google's free website is gone

Some owners still remember the free business.site websites made from a Google Business Profile. Google turned them off in March 2024, and visitors were redirected only until 10 June 2024. The Business Profile itself is still free, and it still matters. Our guide on why your Google Business Profile matters more than your website explains how to set it up well.

Doing it yourself is a fair choice if you have the time, a simple need and someone who enjoys this kind of work. Paying a studio makes sense when your time is worth more in the shop.

When ₹12,000 is enough, and when it is not

It is enough when the site's job is to get you found and bring calls and WhatsApp messages. That means showing your services, products, rooms or work, with your timings, location and photos. For many shops, clinics, small hotels, schools, builders and traders, that is the whole job.

It is not enough when the site has to run part of your business:

  • An online store with a cart and payments. See our e-commerce development page.
  • Room, table or appointment booking, especially with an advance payment. See booking and reservation systems.
  • Links to your billing, stock or other software.
  • Customer logins or a mobile app.

Each of these is quoted separately, as a fixed written quote, after we agree the scope. You can start with the website and add one of them later.

Three worked examples

Here is how the split works for three typical businesses on the coast.

BusinessWhat it needsIn the ₹12,000 siteQuoted separately
Clinic in UdupiDoctors, timings, services, directions, a quick way to ask a questionA page for each doctor and service, timings, Google Maps location, WhatsApp button, contact form, photosOnline appointment slots; collecting the consultation fee online
Homestay near MalpeRooms, photos, house rules, nearby places, enquiriesRoom pages, photo gallery, Google Maps location, WhatsApp enquiry button, basic content writingA live availability calendar; taking an advance payment when guests book
Hardware shop in MangaluruBrands stocked, product range, "do you have this?" questionsA page for each product category and brand, photos, WhatsApp button for price questions, locationOnline ordering with a cart and payment; stock linked to the billing software

In all three, the ₹12,000 site does the main job on its own. The extras are worth adding once enquiries are coming in and handling them by phone takes too much time.

Red flags in a website quote

  • The domain is in the agency's name. If you part ways, your web address can go with them. It should be registered to your business, with your email and your login.
  • Hosting you cannot log in to. Ask for the login, or at least written proof of whose account it is.
  • Support with no end date or detail. Ask how long it lasts, what it covers and how you ask for help. A fixed period, like 365 days, is easier to hold someone to than "we will always be there".
  • Maintenance lock-ins. Paid maintenance can be useful. The problem is a fee you must keep paying just to keep your own site online, with no way to take it elsewhere.
  • No written quote. If the scope was only agreed on a phone call, nobody can check it later.
  • An offer price shown as the yearly price. Hosting that looks like ₹69 a month may need years paid up front and renew much higher.

Questions to ask any web designer in Udupi or Mangalore

  1. Is this price one-time or yearly? What will I pay again next year, and to whom?
  2. Will the domain and hosting be in my business's name, with my own login?
  3. Is there a page limit? Which features cost extra?
  4. Who writes the text, and who arranges the photos?
  5. How many days after I send my content will the site go live?
  6. How long is support after launch, and what does it cover?
  7. Can I see three live sites you built, on my own phone?
  8. Will you put the quote in writing before I pay?
  9. If I move to another designer later, what do I take with me?

Ask us the same questions. Most of our answers are in the package list above. For live sites, see our work, including the sites we built for D-Stone gym and Avi's Events in Udupi, and Jayalaxmi Jewellers in Karkala.

Common questions

Is ₹12,000 a yearly fee?

No. It is a one-time fee to design and launch the site. What comes back every year is the domain name and hosting, which you pay to the provider and which stay in your business's name.

Why are the domain and hosting not included in the ₹12,000?

Because they should belong to you. If they sit in a studio's account, your site stays online only as long as that studio keeps it there. We set them up in your name, so you can renew, move or change designers whenever you like.

How long does a small business website take?

With us, about 7 days from the day we have your text and photos. The content is usually the slow part, so collect your photos, price list and timings first.

Can I add online booking or a store later?

Yes. You can start with the website and add bookings, a store or payments later. That part is quoted separately, in writing, once we agree what it must do.

Does a website cost more in Mangaluru than in Udupi?

Not with us. The same starting price and the same package apply in Mangaluru, Udupi, Karkala and the other towns we work in. Our one office is in Udupi.
