In short

What does a social media marketing agency do?

A social media marketing agency plans, shoots and posts content for a business's Instagram and Facebook pages, runs ads behind the posts that work, and reports what they brought in. For a local business, what counts is messages and calls, not likes. From its Udupi studio, Whirl Designs films on site for businesses between Mangaluru and Kundapura, and keeps every account registered to the business.

Who will make the content every week?

Most accounts do not go quiet because the ideas ran out. They go quiet because the shop got busy and nobody had time to film. So the first thing we settle is who shoots, who writes and who posts.

You post, we set you up

Best for: An owner who enjoys posting and has the time

  • We fix the profile and plan your first month with you
  • A short lesson on filming reels with your own phone
  • A one-time job, with nothing ongoing after it

Your staff film, we do the rest

Best for: A team member who can shoot a few clips each week

  • A shot list arrives every week, so they know what to film
  • Editing, captions, posting and replies are ours
  • Ads and a monthly report come with it

We make all of it

Best for: A busy business where nobody has time to film

  • We visit to shoot on a fixed rhythm
  • Editing, captions, posting, replies and ads
  • The most time from us and the least from you

Many owners who already post well only need the first card. If that is you, we will tell you, and not sell you more.

Our work

No social media client to show you yet

We cannot yet point you to a client's Instagram or Facebook that we have run, so this page shows no account, no follower count and no reach figure. The profile at the top is a demo with made-up data.

The closest work is two websites we built for Udupi businesses that sell with pictures. On both, the photographs do the selling and asking takes almost no effort. A good feed rests on the same two choices, so they show how we think, even though neither is social media work.

  • Avi's Events & Management: a gallery-led site across every service, for a wedding and event planner whose work is entirely visual
  • Avi's Events & Management: every screen has a way to send an enquiry, and the site stays fast on mobile data at a venue
  • D-Stone — The Gym World: photography-led, dark and high contrast, with a membership enquiry in two taps

What you get

What each month includes

Who does each of these is agreed in the first month's plan, so nothing falls between you and us.

  1. A profile ready for visitorsA business account with the right category, a bio that says what you sell and where, highlights for your menu, rooms or products, and buttons for WhatsApp, calls and directions. The link in your bio is labelled, so a tap from Instagram shows up in your website's reports.
  2. Shoot days at your placeReels, photos and short clips of your real rooms, dishes, products and staff, taken on site in good light. Nothing comes from a stock photo site, and nothing shows a place you are not. Customers appear only after they have said yes.
  3. Edits that work without soundEach reel is cut for a phone held upright, with the point made in the first seconds and words on screen, because many people scroll with the sound off. Captions go out in Kannada, in English or in a mix, and in Tulu where your customers speak it. Each is written in that language from the start, not machine-translated.
  4. Posting and repliesPosts and stories go out on the planned days. Comments get a reply on working days. Questions only you can answer, such as dates, stock or a room for Saturday, reach your staff on WhatsApp straight away.
  5. Ads behind the posts that earn themOnly posts that already did well on their own get promoted. The ads are aimed at people within reach of your door, or visitors planning a trip to the coast, and they open a WhatsApp chat or a call. For some businesses a post with a local food or travel creator does more, once we have checked that their followers are real.
  6. Every file kept for youRaw clips, finished reels and photos sit in a shared folder in your name. Use them on your website, your Google listing or your WhatsApp status, now or after we stop working together.

How it runs

How the month runs

The first month goes on the audit, the profile and the first shoot. After that every month follows the same rhythm, so posting never depends on someone finding a spare hour.

  1. Audit: accounts, posts and rivals

We find out who holds the admin roles on your page and Instagram, which past posts brought messages, and how similar businesses near you post. Access still sitting with a former agency or on a relative's phone is moved back into your name first.

  2. Plan the month, in writing

Four weeks on one page: themes, the dates that matter to your trade, the shot list and which posts may be promoted. Festivals, the monsoon and the tourist months are planned weeks ahead, not remembered the day before.

  3. Produce: shoot in batches

One visit covers many posts. The month's shot list is usually filmed in one or two sessions, then edited, captioned and turned into stories, so a busy week at your end never stops the posting.

  4. Approve, then publish

Every post reaches you on WhatsApp before it goes out, and nothing is posted without your yes. Once approved, it is scheduled for the hours your customers are on their phones.

  5. Report and change the plan

A short report each month in plain words: WhatsApp chats, calls and link taps from social media first, then reach and saves. What brought messages stays in the plan, what did not is dropped, and next month's plan shows the change.

Not a fit

When social media is the wrong place to start

Some businesses get more from fixing something else first. If one of these sounds like you, that is what we will suggest.

  • Most of your customers find you by searching nearby, for a clinic, a mechanic or a hardware shop. A finished Google Business Profile will bring more calls than any feed, so start there.
  • Nobody at your end can answer messages within a few hours. Enquiries from social media arrive as chats, and a customer who waits a day has usually asked someone else.
  • Your rooms, food or products do not look good on camera yet. No edit hides a tired room, so fix the place first and film it after.
  • You sell to factories, builders or other companies that choose suppliers through trade directories, referrals and site visits. A clear website and a place in your trade's listings will reach them better than reels.

Questions

Questions about social media marketing

Which social media platforms should my business focus on?

Most local businesses need Instagram and Facebook, with WhatsApp as the place every enquiry ends up. Instagram reaches younger buyers and tourists heading to the coast. Facebook still reaches older customers, community groups and families living abroad. YouTube Shorts can carry the same reels with little extra work, and LinkedIn matters only if you sell to other businesses. Two platforms done well beat five done badly.

How often should a small business post on Instagram?

Two or three posts a week, one of them a reel, is enough for most local businesses, as long as it never stops. A steady rhythm matters more than a big number. We set the number by what can be shot well at your place, because one good reel a week does more than a rushed post every day. Stories can go out more often, since they take minutes to make.

Do we need Meta ads, or is posting enough?

Posting alone can be enough for a business with loyal local followers, but a new or quiet account grows slowly without ads. Small ads behind posts that already did well put them in front of nearby people quickly. We set them up in Meta's Ads Manager rather than with the Boost button, so the goal can be a chat on WhatsApp or a phone call, and each chat can be traced to the ad that started it.

How long before social media marketing shows results?

Ads can bring messages within days, because they put your posts in front of people straight away. Posts alone grow an account more slowly, so allow about three months of regular posting before you decide if it is working. By the third monthly report, the pattern is usually clear: which kinds of post bring chats and calls, and which only collect likes. The plan then leans on what works.

Can social media bring real enquiries, or just likes?

It can bring enquiries, but only when every post and ad gives people an easy way to ask, and someone counts what arrives. Ads can be set to open WhatsApp or dial your number, and Meta counts each chat and call. Messages from ordinary posts are noted by whoever replies, and your staff can ask new callers where they heard of you, which catches what the apps miss.

Who owns our Instagram, Facebook and ad accounts?

You do. The Facebook page, the Instagram account, the ad account and the Meta business portfolio, which holds all three together, are registered to your business. We are added as a partner with only the access the work needs, and you can remove it in a minute, without asking us.

Can you increase our followers quickly?

Not quickly, and never by buying them. Bought followers never visit, and they can drag down your reach, because the app first shows each post to some of your followers and fake ones never react. Real followers come from good posts and ads aimed near you, and a few hundred local ones are worth more than thousands who will never walk in. Our own mailing list showed us how empty a big number can be: 306 sign-ups, and not one was a person.

Do you shoot reels and photos at our shop or site?

Yes. If your shop, hotel or site is in Kundapura, Karkala, Udupi, Manipal or Mangaluru, the shoot days happen there, and the monthly plan is made with you face to face. Elsewhere in India, your staff film on their phones from our weekly shot list, and the editing, posting, ads and reports are done online. If you would rather see the edits on a big screen, come by the studio in Udupi.
